Our story and commitment to Detroit
Urban Metro Outfitters Inc is a dedicated grassroots nonprofit based in Detroit, Michigan. We are on a mission to uplift families in need, individuals experiencing homelessness, and the less fortunate across our community by providing essential clothing, nourishing food, and vital household goods.
Born from a kitchen conversation
It all began with a simple, heartfelt question: "What can I do to make a change, or help change people's lives?" In that moment, a light clicked on just as clear as day—to serve the local community to the very best of our ability. Standing in the kitchen with my daughter, discussing ideas and getting her enthusiastic encouragement ("Mama, go ahead and do it!"), Urban Metro Outfitters Inc was officially created to turn compassion into real action.
Meeting essential needs with dignity
We believe every individual and family deserves access to the basic necessities of life. Through our programs, we collect and distribute quality clothing, nutritious pantry staples, and everyday household essentials to residents across Detroit and neighboring areas. We connect directly with neighbors by appointment to ensure everyone is treated with warmth, respect, and personal care.
